We are not surprised to see the sales up for the month of March compared to 2019 but don’t see this as a reflection of any effects of the COVID 19 pandemic. Most home sales take 30-45 days to close, meaning a vast majority of March home sales would have taken place prior to guidelines being implemented by area counties regarding shelter in place and social distancing. Our expectations are that when we receive the April statistics in early May we will have a much better understanding of the impact COVID 19 had on the local real estate market. While we expect those numbers to be lower compared to 2019 we do strongly believe that the market is on pause while we all work together to get through these challenging times. After this pandemic is over we do expect both buyers and sellers to be very active in the market place and our real estate business will return to normal if not higher levels of activity.
